Design Process / Customer Service
Projects initiate at the office, which is located at the
corner of State Rte. 20 and County Road 292,
approximately 2.5 miles west of Bellevue, Ohio.
Estimates
are taken from the customer’s blueprints.

Upon confirmation of a job, an experienced CAD operator
meets with the customer to gather information.  Due to
the fact that most home designs are altered (from the
original blueprints), all foundation plans are redrawn to
suit the customer’s requests.

The customer then approves these drawings.  At that
time a set of drawings are made to transmit the needed
information to each crew that works on the job site.
Solid Foundations, Inc. has a separate crew for each aspect of its operation.  These crews
work together on a daily basis.  The foremen have been with the company from four to ten
years, with the average retention of seven years.  Their experience and skill level helps
bring together the construction of a superior foundation.

A typical project will start with a “site lay-out” between the
lay-out crew member and the customer. Using the latest
technology in robotics, design layout management
equipment, lasers, etc., assures consistently precise layout
of the foundation, and accuracy at each step of the forming
process, resulting in straight, level, attractive finished
foundation walls.
The location of the dig will be marked and the height will be “benchmarked” at the site.  The
foundation site is
excavated on "day one" (see left margin).  "Day two" the footers are
poured.  The following morning the drainage tile is installed.

The
wall crew usually sets and pours the foundation on "day three" of the job.  To watch a
short, animated video (4 min.) of concrete wall forms being placed and set, and the
finished, poured-wall foundation, click here.

The next morning the forms are stripped and the wall coating is applied.  Backfilling is
completed within a few days.  Poured walls, due to the strength of the solid concrete, can
be backfilled much quicker than block walls.
